[ Cersei compares her to a knight and suddenly, very suddenly, Riley decides she likes this girl. She can tell right away that there are some...fundamental differences between them.

I'd never thought of us as knights before. But I really like the sound of it. :)

It sounds to me like there's a lot of things here you're not used to. Would it be presumptuous to assume this laptop's a surprise as well?
Things used to be like that where I'm from, but it was so long before I was born we just study it in history. Everything's not great, certainly. There's a lot of people who'll look down on you if you're a girl.
But, it's nothing like it used to be.

I'm sorry that it's what you're used to. No one should feel like they can't do something for reasons they can't control.

The fundamentals seem shockingly similar. The best knights – the Kingsguard – have a lot to carry on their shoulders, beyond the fighting. Whole battles can turn when soldiers see one of whitecloaks ride to battle alongside them, and they can be lost when they see them flee. Not that a true knight would ever choose flight.

Not presumptuous at all. This laptop alone, just as you have said, changes the nature of the game: I am used to sending missives by raven. Electricity, do not get me stared. The complete lack of servants, in fact, as generous as my host has been, he does expect me to offer my aid around the house. I learned to use the toaster. :)

It will be strange, once I go back. And it is difficult. But there are always ways to gain control, even for a girl.

I don't know how many people back home would agree with you, but you're right, they do sound similar. When I can return home, I'm going to start referring to it like that.

If you need any help with technology or more modern things, I can try and explain them. I admit I'm not used to having to do that, but it's getting easier to default to asking if someone's familiar with electricity before assuming. If you have a host, I'm sure they can give you tips and the like, but I imagine multiple sources could be helpful!!

You've got to have some kind of control, as a queen. That does remind me a little of a friend of mine, though. She knows how to get people to listen to her too.

I would be greatly in your debt. While one of my hosts is quite versed in the ways of this world, the other is still learning himself, and besides, both of them are men grown.

I should like to have someone to turn to in these times. And if there is ever a thing you could need a helping hand with ⟪ then she's eager to get out of her debt by returning the favour ⟫ I would be happy to offer my aid in turn.

Then absolutely! Every girl should have SOME kind of female friend to reach out to, especially in a place like this. :)

It's very sweet of you to offer in return. I swear the kind of things I'd ask for help for wouldn't be, you know, getting lost in the woods again.

If you allow me this same honesty in return, it is not the safest habit for a queen to make any friends, in my lands. It is a strange development, to have the opportunity at all. I shall not squander it on asking you to join me on any ill-advised hikes.

I can only imagine casual conversation like this isn't something you're familiar with. Really, I'm still amazed to be talking to an actual queen. Where I'm from, we don't really have royalty, at least not in my country.
Honestly, I'm going to probably avoid hikes for now. At least until I develop a few more survival skills.

We were having a few disagreements, so it had been awhile since I spoke to her. It's making all of this a little more difficult than it already is.
